About
Us
Faith
Evangelical Lutheran Church has been proclaiming
the good news of salvation to the Oak Lawn community since
1939. Many of our members still live in the neighborhood
around the church, but others live in many of the other
southwest suburbs of Chicago.
We believe
that the Bible is God's Word and that it has been correctly
interpreted by the historic creeds and confessions of the
church. Accordingly, we believe that...
- The
Triune God - Father, Son and Holy Spirit - created
everything that exists, including humankind.
- We have
rebelled against God and have become separated from Him.
Because of this sin, we are unable to please God.
- God
became man in the person of Jesus Christ and took all
our sin upon Himself. Jesus died and rose again as our
Savior. He will come again to judge all people.
-
Salvation is given to us freely as a gift. God chooses
to give His gifts in specific ways through His means of
grace. These include Holy Baptism, Holy Absolution and
the Lord's Supper.
- Through
the working of the Holy Spirit in these means of grace,
we are made holy and live godly lives according to God’s
Word.
Faith is a
member of
The Lutheran
Church - Missouri Synod.
We join with 2.5 million other Lutheran Christians across
the country and members of the
International Lutheran Council
throughout the world to support the proclamation of the
gospel. |
